Known Businesswoman, Philanthropist Parmeshwar Godrej Passes Away At 70

India’s well-known socialite and philanthropist, Parmeshwar Godrej passed away on October 10, after suffering from a degenerative ailment in the lungs. She was 70.

 

The news was broken by news agency ANI, who in a tweet said she breathed her last in October 10 night at Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital.

 

Wife of business tycoon Adi Godrej, Parmeshwar Godrej was chairman of the Godrej Group and had even created an identity for herself outside of her husband’s shadow.

Though ANI didn’t specify the reason behind’s Parmeshwar’s death, according to a report by fashionscandal.com, Mrs. Godrej was suffering from a degenerative ailment in the lungs and had been undergoing treatment.

Celebrities from all across the world expressed shock over her death and sent out their condolences.

 


Parmeshwar Godrej, besides being a well-known businesswoman was also known, philanthropist.

She over the years had worked towards combating AIDS in India through her Heroes Project.

 

She had launched the Heroes Project back in 2004 and had even roped in Hollywood actor Richard Gere to promote the cause.

Over the years the initiative garnered many supporters, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Clinton Global Initiative.

Before she married business tycoon Adi Godrej, Parmeshwar Godrej was one of Air India’s first air hostesses.
