In yet another case of ceasefire violation this afternoon, an Indian Army officer was killed by Pakistani soldiers.

Early on Tuesday afternoon, in Nowgam area of Jammu and Kashmir, an Indian Army junior commissioned officer was shot at by a Pakistani sniper when he had walked out of his bunker.

The officer succumbed to his injuries.

The Indian Army retaliated in response to Pakistani firing but there has been no update about any casualty or damages that the Pakistani side might have suffered.

The Nowgam area where the firing took place is located in north Jammu and falls under the Kupwara district.

In the last 15 days, there have many instances of ceasefire violations from Pakistani side in the Pirpanjal area, resulting in 6 civilian casualties in the Balakote area of Poonch district.

According to various sources, India has lost 14 soldiers and 25 civilians to Pakistani firing since May 2014.

There has also been a lot of political tensions between the two nations in the past few months. The much talked about NSA-level talks between India and Pakistan have been cancelled over the Kashmir issue.
