Pentagon Will Not Pay Pakistan $300 Million Till They Take Action Against The Haqqani Network

According to news reports, the Pentagon has decided to not pay Pakistan $300 million in military reimbursements as US Secretary of Defense Ash Carter is yet to certify if Pakistan has taken sufficient action against the Haqqani network.

In the past few months, relations between Pakistan and US has deteriorated as US officials are frustrated by Islamabad’s unwillingness to act against Islamist groups in their country.

Talking about the funds, Pentagon spokesman Adam Stump on August 3 said:

Pakistan gets $300 million from the US under the Coalition Support Fund (CSF), which reimburse allies the costs they incurred in supporting US’s counter-terrorist operations.

Pakistan is the largest recipient of this fund.
