It looks like Pakistani exhibitors have finally seen reason and have decided to lift the ban they had imposed on Indian movies. Two of this year’s biggest, ‘Ae Dil Ha Mushkil’ and ‘Shivaay’, will hit theaters on October 28, as scheduled.
The Indian Army’s criticism of the MNS’ penalty of 50 million rupees on Indian films featuring Pakistani actors is a huge reason behind this change of heart. A cinema owner said,
The Indian Army’s statement is a good enough evidence for the change in perspective on the other side of the border. So is the release of Fawad Khan’s film in India.
This is welcome news to those of us who couldn’t see what movies had to do with the undying hatred that seems to continually bubble just beneath the surface in both India and Pakistan.
Maybe India will see reason, too, and in the process, disappoint all those who were itching for a war. Here’s hoping!
