Indiscriminate Shelling By Pak In J&K Kills 7 Civilians, Security Forces Giving Hard Hitting Reply

Pakistani troops continued ceasefire violation on November 1 by opening fire and mortar shelling on Indian posts and civilian areas along the LoC and International Border in Jammu, Samba and Rajouri districts.

The unprovoked shelling left at least seven civilians getting killed and 13 injured.

 

16-year-old girl, Rosy, was killed in Jerda village of the district after she was hit by a mortar splinter.

While in Ramgarh sector of Samba district, a young woman and another civilian were killed during shelling, at least two women were killed in Paniyari village.

“Pakistani Rangers started firing with small arms followed by mortars at one place and further spread to four or five places in Ramgarh and Arnia sectors of Samba and Jammu district from 0630 hours,” DIG BSF (G) Dharmendra Pareek said.

The Pakistanis fired 82 mm mortar bombs intermittently, and the BSF gave them a befitting reply.

According to Pareek, hundreds of residents were forced to abandon their homes in the Samba district along the International Border (IB).

Dozens of cattle were reportedly killed or injured in the shelling.

On October 31, an army jawan and a woman were killed as the Pakistani troops resorted to heavy mortar shelling along the LoC in Rajouri and Mendhar sectors.

The Indian Army had on October 29 launched retaliatory fire assaults at Pakistan Army positions, inflicting massive damage across the border by destroying four posts across the LoC in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

In a statement, the ministry of defence said the Indian troops are responding to the Pakistani firing in equal measure.
