Pak Journalist’s Dig At India’s First Olympic Medal Turns Twitter Into A Battle Zone

Even as India celebrated wrestler Sakshi Malik’s bronze medal win in Rio Olympics, Twitter became a war zone for many Twitterati’s as Pakistan’s Samaa TV’s Omar R Quraishi tried to use the achievement to ridicule India.

Quraishi, who is Samaa TV’s editor of digital properties, soon after Malik’s victory tweeted:

The badly timed jibe though didn’t go down well with the Indian audience and he was soon bombarded with tweets reminding him about Pakistan’s abysmal’s performance.

There was also some voice of reason among the abuses that pointed out that instead to pulling each other down one should celebrate the country’s achievements…

At the end, Quraishi too agreed with these sensible voices and pointed out that his tweet was about the media and not about Sakshi’s achievement.

He even retweeted few of the sensible Tweets to show his acknowledgement.
