‘Padmavati’ has managed to get much hype right from its initial stages. Fans of the actors Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone were thrilled to know that the two would be seen together in another movie after their epic ‘Bajirao Mastani’ became a super-hit.

In truth, while Padukone will be assaying the role of Padmavati, the queen of Chittor, Ranveer Singh will be portraying Sultan Alauddin Khilji, the man who drove Padmavati to commit jauhar.

Early reports had revealed that Padukone had refused to let ‘Masaan’ actor Vicky Kaushal play the role of Raja Ratansen, her husband. The actress wanted a known name for the role and Shahid Kapoor was soon cast for the part.

Then came the news that Ranveer Singh wanted his role to be meatier. Both lead actors were reportedly vying for more screen space. After the actor was spotted late night outside Bhansali’s office several times, things were finally worked out.

The next thing we heard was that Deepika Padukone received a certain huge sum to sign ‘Padmavati’, which made her the highest paid actress in Bollywood. Bhansali’s representative soon denied these rumors.

Meanwhile, Patidar Navnirman Sena (PNS), led by Hardik Patel, has been very concerned about how Rani Padmavati will be portrayed in the film. They demanded that the filmmaker reveal the plot to them to ensure historical correctness or they will not let the film be shot in Gujarat.

While all this has been going on, one producer seems to be getting cold feet. You see, ‘Padmavati’ has an insane budget of Rs 180 crore, making it one of the most expensive films ever. The film is being produced by Bhansali, Eros International and Viacom 18. A massive set has been constructed at Mehboob Studios and shooting is supposed to start soon.

However, latest information reports reveal that one of the producers is worried about the big budget and all the trouble ‘Padmavati’ is already facing. Such a huge budget is making the producer worry about recovery in this unpredictable market.

We hope Bhansali can keep ahead of his troubles; in case he can’t, here’s some advice: dude your sets really don’t need to be THAT elaborate.
