But Fox Star Studio CEO Vijay Singh recently said, “It (Neerja) will make India proud” and “has to be India’s entry to the Oscars.”

He then went on to reveal that they were also planning to release Neerja in different countries across the world, after its initial success in India.

‘Neerja’ captures the real life incident that took place on a Pan Am flight in September 1986.

On September 5, Pan Am flight was hijacked by terrorists. The lives of hundreds of passengers were saved thanks to quick thinking of the 23-year-old flight attendant, who lost her life in the process.

For her bravery, Neerja had posthumously become the youngest recipient of the country’s highest gallantry award, Ashok Chakra.
