Delhi government has prepared a proposal to impose fine of Rs 2,000 on those obstructing e-rickshaws movement by encroachment, parking on Non-Motorised Vehicle (NMV) lanes.

“The proposal favours imposing a fine of Rs 2,000 on those obstructing movement of e-rickshaws in the form of parking or encroachment in NMV lanes,” the PWD Minister Satyendar Jain  told PTI.

The proposal has been sent to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung for his approval and after receiving a nod, it will be implemented in the capital.

Presently, NMV lanes, which are spread over 30 km of roads, are either used for parking or encroached by locals.

“NMV lane will be marked on roads so that motorists do not obstruct plying of cycles and e-rickshaws in such lanes,” Jain further said.
