In the latest batch of emails released by WikiLeaks, it has been learnt
that the Obama administration in 2015 wanted to make sure that Prime Minister Narendra Modi visit to the Silicon Valley was successful.
The emails belonged Hilary Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta, who in these emails gave a detailed insight of what all went into the planning.

These emails were sent nearly two months before Modi’s 2015 visit and took place between US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Nisha Desai Biswal and John Podesta.
In one of her mails, Biswal had also sought to know if former US president Bill Clinton could co-host a clean energy event with PM Modi as there was a lot of interest in the Indian government to focus on two themes during his visit.
“Another option would be to see if (California) Governor (Jerry) Brown or perhaps President Clinton would be interested in co-hosting/convening. Also, would you want to participate in the roundtable? Let me know if you have thoughts on this or want to discuss,”
While the first focus was on Clean Energy, the second focus was on the Digital Economy.
“The other focus is on clean energy. Here, the Indians want to visit Tesla and hopefully announce a Tesla partnership/venture with India focusing on their battery storage system for solar power.”
For digital economy, she had asked for some major announcements to be made by Google on their massive investments in India.

She in one of her emails had also said…
“Before I engage the WH (State Department) and State or DoE (Department of Energy), I wanted to see if you had thoughts on how we should approach this. The Indians have said that it would need to be a Cabinet rank principal to convene this with the PM (Prime Minister).”
These emails were released by WikiLeaks on October 11, and the US State Department is yet to authenticate them.
