While ATP’s world number 1 player, Novak Djokovic, might have lost his Rogers Cup finals to British rival Andy Murray this past Sunday, Djoker’s semi-final experience might be something that he will not forget any time soon.
Novak, who on Saturday had defeated Jeremy Chardy to make his way to the Rogers Cup 2015 Final, had an unusual experience this Saturday; he had to approach the chair umpire after his first set victory as someone was ‘smoking up’ and the smell was making him dizzy.
The smell on the court was so bad that at one point, Novak approached the chair umpire and said…
“Someone is smoking weed, I can smell it, and I’m getting dizzy. Somebody is getting high. Can you smell it? The whole place smells of it.”
Unfortunately this was not the first time during the Rogers Cup 2015 that the Serbian Tennis ace had noticed this pungent smell, Djokovic claimed he could smell cannabis during his doubles match with Janko Tipsarevic as well, and though he had not complained about it at that time, he had told reporters about it later on.
”I can’t believe how bad it was. Whoever it is, I hope he doesn’t come back tomorrow. He’s probably on the seventh sky somewhere. First in the doubles match, today again. Somebody’s really enjoying his life around the tennis court.”
