NIT-Srinagar students have not yet got back their tricolour from the J&K police. But no worries. They now have a tricolour with them thanks to Smriti Irani’s former aide Shilpi Tiwari.
Pro-India students at NIT-Srinagar acknowledged that they have indeed got a tricolour and a letter of support.
How Tiwari managed to hand over a tricolour is yet not known.
It is noteworthy that Anupam Kher, who wanted to hand over a tricolour to the students himself, was stopped at the Srinagar airport and forced to return.
Though students at NIT did thank him for his efforts. And, at the same time, Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga of the Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena, who led the NIT Chalo march, too could not hand the tricolour to the students. Though he was able to reach the gate. The non-Kashmiri students at NIT are not appearing for the ongoing examinations. The HRD ministry had previously stated that they can appear for the exams at a later date. Some of the students have been able to leave the campus for their respective homes.
