The NIA identified Dawood’s close aide as Javed Chikna, who also said that it was him who had hatched the plan to kill former BJP president of Bharuch, Shirish Bangali who was also a senior member of RSS and the general secretary of Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha Pragnesh Mistry.

Bangali was shot dead on November 2, 2015 and NIA investigators said that it was Chikna who got him killed to avenge for the 1993 and 2002 riots in India.

Making the connection, the NIA said that one of the accused Abid Patel, is Javed’s brother who is an accused in the 1993 Bombay (Mumbai) bomb blasts case.

It was also found during the investigation that it was Javed and others associated with the Dawood Ibrahim gang that had instructed a local module to kill the BJP leaders.

The charge-sheet also said that the D-Company operatives had asked their recruits to disturb communal harmony by vandalising churches and throwing petrol bombs in empty liquor bottles and target leaders of the right wing that are primarily from BJP, RSS and Bajrang Dal.

Chikna is currently based in Pakistan and a red-corner notice has been issued against him and Zahid Milan.
