NDTV Takes Government To Court, Challenging Their Decision To Ban Them For A Day

Challenging their decision, NDTV, in a BSE filing said that it has filed a writ petition before the Supreme Court “challenging the constitutional validity of the said order” and the provisions of law under which the said order has been passed.

On November 4, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry had directed NDTV India to go off-air from November 9 1pm till November 10, 12:59pm.

They had given this directive to NDTV after their Inter-Ministerial Committee had concluded that it had violated the “programming code” during their Pathankot coverage.

Since then many journalists and the News Broadcasters Association (NBA) have been urging the I & B Ministry to reconsider its decision.
