Ongoing NDRF Operation Is Attempting To Rescue Stranded Pilgrims After Uttarkashi Landslide

After heavy rainfall lashed the state of Uttarakhand, the situation has gotten bad in many areas of the hill state. Almost 22 roads have been blocked due to the landslides that occurred in the Gomukh area. A spate in the River Ganga has led to the flooding of Gangotri Temple.



The Gomukh trek has been closed in Uttarkashi and two bridges are reported to have been washed away in Chirwasa and Deogarh. Thundershowers in Srinagar caused River Alaknanda to reach the danger mark. Several temples have been submerged under water. There is massive waterlogging in Haldwani.

NDRF operation


An NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) rescue operation is ongoing as teams attempt to rescue pilgrims stuck at Helgugad on Uttarkashi-Gangotri road due to a landslide. As per the met department, heavy rainfall is expected in the upcoming days too.
