The famous monogrammed suit that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wore during his meeting with American President Barack Obama last year, has now entered the Guinness Book of World Records.
The suit has entered Guinness Book of World Records as ‘the most expensive suit sold’ after it as it was auctioned for a whopping Rs. 43,131,311.
The pin striped suit had created a huge controversy in India as it had “Narendra Damodardas Modi” stitched in gold on it.
Though it was later cleared that it was gifted to Prime Minister Modi by an ardent fan, the fact that media claimed it cost Rs. 10 lakh had not gone down with the opposition.
The suit was later put for auction where on February 20, 2015, where it was sold to Laljibhai Tulsibai Patel, a resident of Surat.
All the money from the proceed had then gone to the Namami Gange Fund, a project to clean the Ganga River.
