There seems to be no let-up in the violence in Kashmir. The trigger this time has been the killing of 22-year-old Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani by security forces on July 8.
Amid the ongoing spate of overwhelming violence by frenzied crowds – particularly street violence – has emerged a new video by Northern Command – Indian Army, which shows unruly mob attacking a military hospital in Drugmulla.
Unsurprisingly, the hospital has treated more civilians than people belonging to armed forces. Yet the mob decided to have a go at it. Though the state’s Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has urged Kashmiri youths to show “patience and calm” at this “critical and sensitive” hour, the mob clearly defied her requests and chose to attack security establishments at the mere sight of it.
Earlier too, a mob pushed a police driver’s mobile bunker vehicle into river Jhelum in Anantnag district of Kashmir that killed him. In addition, there was also no trace of three cops reported missing following a mob attack on a police station. Over 39 guns and a large quantity of ammunition have been looted by mob from a police station in south Kashmir after a mob torched its building.
So far, nearly 100 policemen and paramilitary CRPF personnel have been injured in stone pelting by protestors across Kashmir.
Security agencies are worried that militants under the garb of protesters are attacking the law enforcing agencies in a bid to provoke rage and cause causalities in the valley.
