Standing his ground over his remarks targeting actor Aamir Khan, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said not a single person said my remarks were wrong, rather received complimented by everyone.
“There is a certain sympathy for people who are anti-national. Therefore, what I said in Pune I would not like to repeat it here. Those who want to see it can see it on YouTube. No one has told me that you have said the wrong thing, everyone said you have said the right thing,” Parrikar told a meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party Scheduled Caste morcha.
The defence minister said those who have sympathy for anti-social elements are trying to spread hatred against the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The Defence Minister also said that the political opposition was hassled by the achievements of the BJP-led government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both in India and abroad.
On August 31, the union minister said: “an actor made this mistake, said his wife wants to go and stay in a foreign country. That was an arrogant statement.” He also referred to an “online trading company”, saying it did not renew its endorsement contract with the actor after his words created a controversy.

Some section of media stated that Parrikar’s comments had unfairly targeted Aamir Khan. Later in his speech, Parrikar had also justified the targeting of Aamir Khan and Snapdeal, the e-commerce portal he was associated with. Later on, he said that he did not mean anyone in particular, and that he was “just saying” people who speak against the country should be “verbally condemned”.
