It was a holy journey to Mata Vaishno Devi for Delhi-resident Lakshmi Gupta, but little did she know that a tragedy was awaiting her. Lakshmi Gupta (25) along with her husband Shakti Gupta, had arrived for performing Darshan of the deity at holy cave shrine in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir.
But instead of completing the journey, Shakti took advantage of the situation and throttled his wife and pushed the body into a gorge from the cliff near Lambikeri area. The couple had a matrimonial dispute.
According to police, the body of the woman, was found in a stream in Lambikeri area, en route to the Bhavan this morning.

Lakshmi’s husband had filed a missing report at the police post at Ardh Kumari.
However, police said Shakti’s statement created suspicion about him and they started interrogating him.
“We contacted the parents of the deceased who confirmed a matrimonial dispute between the couple,” a police officer said.
When put to sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime.
He told the police that after throttling his wife at night, he took advantage of the darkness and pushed the body into a gorge from the cliff near Lambikeri area. “The husband has been arrested and an investigation is on to reveal the motive behind the murder,” said the officer.
