Remember Mamata Kulkarni? The 90’s sex bomb left the industry and married one Vijay ‘Vicky’ Goswami. That man was not so famous back then. Hardly had anyone heard of this son of a police officer from Gujarat.

Today, Vicky Goswami is so notorious that the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) wants him badly.

He is the kingpin of an international drug syndicate and has worked with the likes of Dawood Ibrahim.

His name emerges following a string of arrests made after Thane police nabbed Sipren Chinassa, a Nigerian national, with 500g of ephedrine. The police have seized a total of 18.5 tonne of ephedrine and 2.5 tonne of acetic anhydride worth Rs.2,500 crore.

The volume is so high that even the DEA sent a letter of appreciation to the police force.

Goswami is currently out on bail in Kenya. Officials are trying to extradite him from the East African country.

His rise to becoming the Heisenberg of the drug world was not smooth. Like all drug kingpins, Goswami started low.

During the time when Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel were on good terms, Goswami’s business took off.

He supplied Methaqualone, popularly known as Mandrax, to party circuits.

At the time he was also seen at Bollywood parties. It was the late 80s and the 90s, when Bollywood’s connection with the underworld was known to all. At one of the lavish parties where the underworld fellas hobnobbed with movie stars, Goswami met Mamata Kulkarni – the hottest star of her time.

They reportedly married, but Goswami’s business kept him on the run from authorities.

From 1994 to 1997, Vicky kept dodging the Zambian and South African police forces. He luck ran out in 1997 when he was arrested in Dubai with Mandrax worth $6 million.

Sixteen years later, in 2012, he was freed. Kulkarni is learnt to have then shifted with him to Kenya.

Goswami was again arrested in Kenya but is now on bail.
