Mamata Banerjee Does A U-Turn Says Never Agreed To Any National ‘Bandh’

In a series of tweets on November 25, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee disclosed that she is not in support of a nationwide ‘bandh’ and never agreed to it.

She also said that she was meeting the opposition party in Delhi so as to appeal everyone that they need to stand in alliance with the citizens of India and help them in this hour of need.

Though Banerjee didn’t give an update as to what was the outcome of that meeting, she in her previous tweet had made it clear that despite their differences on the ‘bandh’, the opposition was united on their views with regard to demonetization.

A united Opposition had recently called for a nationwide ‘Bharat Bandh’ on November 28  so as to escalate their protest against demonetization.

So far more than a dozen opposition parties from across India have come forward and campaigned against centre’s decision to ban old Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes.
