Miffed by JNUSU President Kanhaiya Kumar’s outburst against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government, 15-year-old Jhanvi Behal from Ludhiana has challenged Kumar for an open debate on freedom of speech and expression.
Kumar (29), who hails from Begusarai in Bihar, was booked on sedition charges for anti-national sloganeering in JNU, and is out on bail currently. He was jailed for three weeks.
He has been critical about PM Modi and his government following his release.
Behal is also an active member of an NGO Raksha Jyoti Foundation and was honoured on Republic Day for her contribution to many projects including Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

The high-spirited teenager had also filed a writ with the Punjab and Harayana High Court seeking a ban on circulation of pornographic materials on social media. She had also taken the matter of road blockage of various organizations to court.
For her efforts, Behal even received a letter of appreciation from PM Modi along with a biography of Swami Vivekananda, to motivate her in her work.
She had also been involved in conducting a sting operation on a liquor and tobacco store, which had been selling alcohol and tobacco products including cigarettes to under age kids and the operation had lead to FIR against several such stores.
Behal considers Mother Teresa as her inspiration. She has even made a documentary, Maa Mera Ki Kasoor, on girl child foeticide to create awareness among the public to save the girl child.
