Metro Project Shuttering Collapses in Lucknow, 3 Injured

Three construction workers were injured when a construction mishap happened in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow.

SP Rajesh Pandey said the shuttering between two pillars erected for metro rail track construction work collapsed in Lucknow’s Alambagh area on April 17 morning.

The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital. One injured person is said to be in critical condition.

However, the accident not resulted in any loss of life.

“No one was trapped in the debris. The debris was being cleared and relief was being provided to the injured and an inquiry will be held to find out how the accident occurred,” PTI quoted District Magistrate of Lucknow Raj Shekhar as saying.

According to Shekhar, 15 personnel of the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) reached the accident site to help in rescue operations.

The incident led to disruption in traffic.

The mishap took place hardly two weeks after a heavy slab of concrete fell on a car during metro construction when a two-inch screw came off a shuttering in Lucknow.

The incident triggered panic as it came a fortnight after a flyover collapse in Kolkata, which left 26 people dead.

LMRC is facing a tight deadline to complete the 8.5 km-stretch of the metro rail project from Transport Nagar to Charbagh under the priority section. It has to run trains on trails by November 2016.
