Lionel Messi Reconsiders Retirement For The “Love Of The Country”

Argentinian footballer, Lionel Messi on August 12 decided to reverse his decision to retire from his national team and come back to international football.

Messi, who is just 29-years-old had decided to quit the Argentinian team after a heartbreaking loss to Chile in Copa America 2016 Final.

His decision had left everyone in shock and many, including international footballers from across the world, had requested him to reconsider his decision.

The news about his return was broken when his name featured in Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers squad for the next two matches.

Messi also sent out a statement via the Argentina Football Association and said he was making a U-turn for the “love of the country” and “to help from within”.

Argentina is set to play against Uruguay and Venezuela at the beginning of September for the World Cup 2018 qualifiers.

Messi in the past three years had lost two Copa America finals (2015 and 2016) and a World Cup final (2014) on penalties.

The heartbreak from back to back title losses had proven too much from him and on June 27 he had decided to quit.
