Janapuri village in the Nanded district of Maharashtra lost a son early Tuesday morning when Lance Naik Kadam Sambhaji Yeshwantro was killed in the Nagrota attack.
Born to a very poor background, Sambhaji was the sole bread-winner in his family. Kadam Sambhaji joined the Maratha Infantry and was Lance Naik in the 17 Rashtriya Rifles. He was posted to Jammu & Kashmir six months ago.
In the wee hours of Tuesday morning, militants disguised as policemen entered the 116 Medium Regiment unit and started hurling grenades and shooting indiscriminately. Two officers and five soldiers died before the attack could be contained. Sambhaji was one of the martyred soldiers.
32 year-old Sambhaji is survived by his wife, Sheetal, and their three year-old daughter.
