Virat Kohli Takes A Long Due Stand Against Cheeky Anushka Sharma Trolls

In the plight of catching up with viral trends, somewhere social media takes it a little too far, intruding personal space and offending dignity.

While trolling Anushka Sharma after every match that Virat plays is nothing new, we need to accept how really un-cool it has been all this while.

If he gets out too soon, we see Anushka being blamed for it – you know, distraction!

If the boy turns out a super champ, we thank the Almighty for their break-up.

And while Virat Kohli maintained silence on rude trolling throughout his relationship and poor on-ground performance, this time the champ has lashed out at media in a thoughtful Instagram post.

Here’s what it reads:

“Shame on those people who have been having a go at anushka for the longest time and connecting every negative thing to her. Shame on those people calling themselves educated. Shame on blaming and making fun of her when she has no control over what i do with my sport. If anything she has only motivated and given me more positivity. This was long time coming. Shame on these people that hide and take a dig. And i dont need any respect for this post. Have some compassion and respect her. Think of how your sister or girlfriend or wife would feel if someone trolled them and very conveniently rubbished them in public.”

A break-up or a patch-up, neither gives anyone the right to blame one’s victory or downfall on another person. Especially when you do it on a public platform. Like they say, did we blame Virat for ‘Bombay Velvet’?

Cricket is goddamn game, a sport. You are bound to have good days and equally bad ones. So does that mean we race ourselves back to a decade and call a woman names for a specific loss? People who proudly proclaim themselves as the face of ‘new India’ find pleasure in making tasteless jokes by labeling her as ‘panauti‘.

Applauds to you, Virat for standing up as a credible gentleman, friend and an ex.

Last night, the sportsman in him gave an epic reply to the haters through his thundering batting, and today the dignified man in him gave a worthy response to woman-shamers.

Our love and respect for you has quadrupled!
