Kalpana Chawla was a pioneer who made India proud all around the globe. In 1997, she became the first woman of Indian origin in space. At that time, it was quite impossible to think that women in India can go this far but, she proved her mettle.
Her intellect, her courage and most importantly, her perseverance to follow this extraordinary path is laudable. Unfortunately, on February 1, 2013, we lost her. Her second mission in space was turning out to be a successful escapade, but when the space shuttle was re-entering the earth’s atmosphere, it collapsed.
On this final journey, she had a beautiful conversation with former Prime Minister, I.K Gujral. This 8-mins conversation shows the Kalpana was the epitome of humility.
