According to news reports, Maruti Suzuki is planning to manufacture their fourth-generation Jimny cars in India, with the car making its debut in 2017 itself.
The second generation of Jimny has already been part of India and was a very popular car known as Gypsy.
Jimny has been on the global roads for over four decades, and built a very good reputation for itself. According to reports
, the 4th generation Jimny will find a permanent home in India as makers are not only planning to manufacture the cars from India, but also sell it within the country.
Suzuki, though plans to focus on exporting these car across South Asia, South East Asia, UK and Brazil.
Jimny had first hit roads back in 1970 with their second generation cars arriving on 1981 and being sold till 1998. Their third generation cars have been doing the rounds since 1998.
Jimny is expected to hit India’s mini SUV segments and would be powered by a 1.0 L Boosterjet petrol engine.
