HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar Goofs Up In History; Says Bose, Nehru, Patel Were Hanged

The Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar needs to brush up on his history.

During a public meeting in Madhya Pradesh, he said, “SC Bose, Sardar Patel, Pandit Nehru, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru all were hanged.”

The union minister probably meant to praise the country’s freedom fighters, but he went wrong while bunching them together.

In his defence, the minister, in a series of tweets, said:

Just for stating the facts, out of the names listed by Javadekar, only freedom fighters Bhagat Singh and Rajguru were hanged by the British in 1931. Nehru died of natural cause and Patel was India’s first home minister. He died in 1950.
