It is said that love conquers all and a Japanese husband has proved it right. Mr Kuroki made one of the most romantic and extraordinary gesture for his wife of 30 years.
He planted a lush carpet of thousands of pink flowers around his house to make his wife smile again.
Mr Kuroki planted pink flowers for two years
Mr and Mrs Kuroki, who lived in a diary farm in Shintomi Town (Japan), decided to tour the country after their retirement. But, at the age of 52, Mrs Kuroki lost her sight due to complications from diabetes.
After that, she became depressed and she shut herself in her house. She started to live a life of seclusion.
The flower garden has become a tourist destination
Pained to see her like that, Mr Kuroki started to find ways to make her happy again. And one day, it occurred to him that beauty of flowers can also be experienced through smell and it can bring joy to Mrs Kuroki.
Also, it will attract visitors and bring her dear wife out from seclusion.
With his mind made up, Mr Kuroki started planting pink shibazakura flowers, or moss phlox for two years around his house. His chopped down the trees and made a carpet of pink flowers surrounding his house.
A decade later, up to 7,000 visitors daily come to witness the flower garden which has become a tourist destination.
Also, people come to meet the couple, who are often seen walking around the garden.
However, now Mrs Kuroki sports a big smile and all the credit goes to her loving husband.
