The letter which was confiscated by the Goa Police, has since then been circulated to all the police stations across the state and the case itself has been handed over to the Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS).
The threat mail was sent via a postcard and was received at the State Secretariat last week.
As soon as the Secretariat received the letter, they alerted the Goa Police who in turn took immediate action. Talking about the threat letter, a senior police official said:
“All the agencies of state police are investigating this letter. We will soon be able to find the source of it.”
When asked if this letter was from ISIS, the official confirmed by saying:
“ISIS was written at the bottom of the postcard.”
Though exact content of the letter was not disclosed, it is believed that it not only threatened to kill the PM and Defence Minister, but also expressed anger over ban on cow slaughter in the country.
In the past many BJP leaders like Sakshi Maharaj, Sangeet Som and Tarun Vijay have alleged to have received threat mails from ISIS.
On the international front, ISIS in the past personally threatened to kill Russian President Vladimir Putin and UK Prime Minister David Cameron for their war against ISIS.
