Actor Irrfan Khan is in trouble for his alleged remarks on the concept of qurbani.
“The meaning of qurbani is to sacrifice something which is close to you instead of any goat or sheep which you just buy to sacrifice. Animals are being slaughtered in the name of qurbani. We have made a mockery of sacrifices,” he is heard saying before cameras.
Clerics have taken offence. Jaipur’s Islamic scholars have reportedly told the actor to concentrate on his career instead of making religious remarks.
According to India Today, Irrfan also commented on the silence of the Muslim community and certain politicians when terror attacks happen.
According to reports, Maulana Abdul Wahid Khatri, state secretary of Jamaat-e-Ulema-e-Hind, said: “It would be better if he concentrates on his film career and not make random statements about our religion. He is doing this just for the publicity of his upcoming movie.”

Jaipur’s Shaher Qazi, Khalid Usmani, harshly said, “He should keep his mouth shut as he has no knowledge about the religion.”
All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) member Zafaryab Gilabi too condemned Irrfan’s remarks saying that the actor is not a religious leader.
