To prevent misuse of online e-ticketing facility provided by Indian Railways, the e-ticketing website of the Railways will now allow you to book only six times a month, starting February 15.
The Logical Indian
Indian Railways’ e-ticketing website, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), at present allows a person to book 10 times a month but after receiving a number of complaints it has decided to reduce the number.
They further suspected that these 10 per cent users might be touts, misusing the facility for personal gain. Thus to deter such touts, and to make sure genuine users get tickets, the Indian Railways decided to reduce the maximum number of e- booking to six, per individual.
Recently, they reduced the number of bookings in a day to two tickets with per individual’s user-id. The reservation booking hours have also been kept from 8 AM to 10 PM for advance booking and from 10 AM to 12 noon for Tatkal Booking.
To prevent ticketing agents from exploiting the the facility, they have also barred travel agents from booking tickets from 8 AM to 8.30 AM for general bookings, from 10 AM to 10.30 AM and 11 AM to 11.30 AM for Tatkal booking in AC and non-AC classes respectively.
