In a tragic incident in Meghalaya, a young officer of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) who had been kidnapped was killed by insurgents in South Garo hills.
According to DNA, an official told them that the young officer was an Assistant Central Intelligence Officer (ACIO).
He had been kidnapped, along with another person, in South Garo hills by militants on Thursday. His dead body found on Friday.
The official added that militants had intercepted their Tata Sumo while they were on their way through the hills. There is no information about the other kidnapped person.
Though no militant group has claimed the killing, sources say that a new group called Achick Songa An’pachakgipa Kotok, a breakaway faction of Meghalaya terror group ANVC, is suspected behind the incident.
