Ayesha’s interest was always in doing something adventurous:
“More than being India’s youngest pilot, I am happy for having accomplished my childhood goal,” Ayesha told in an interview.
Kashmir is Ayesha’s native place and twice-a-year trips to that place made her more determined about her dream. This was the time when the will to become a pilot bloomed up within her.
“While I would enjoy take-off and landing of the plane, my brother would be scared and always sleep during the flight,” chimed Ayesha.
On asking her what’s her favourite moment so far, she said that meeting her “second greatest inspiration” – astronaut Sunita Williams – was the most wonderful moment of her life. She has also got the chance to visit NASA and meet John McBride.
“I met her when she came to Worli in 2013 or 2014. I shared my experiences with her. I told her about the activities I participated in NASA like scuba diving, moon walk and bunny walk which an astronaut should know,” she said.
Soon after her high school, our youngest pilot joined flying school. She was awarded her student pilot license in November 2013 after taking ground lessons and passing five viva rounds. The family faced certain financial issues that delayed her training in commercial flying.
If you are thinking you have seen her somewhere then you aren’t wrong because Ayesha has done several photo shoots for a magazine and even done an ad commercial for Whisper.
