A group comprising of founders of nine Indian startups have sent an email to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) chairman RS Sharma, giving their support for net neutrality.
The nine founders have also voiced their concerned about Facebook’s Free Basics initiative and have requested the TRAI to issue clear regulations that prevents telecom or content providers “from acting as gate-keepers who offer restricted internet service instead of open Internet.” The letter said:
The letter was drafted by SFLC.IN, a non-profit organization supporting the SaveTheInternet.in campaign and has taken the initiative against Free Basics and similar zero rating services in India.
