This Is How Army, Navy And Air Force Helped People In Chennai Floods

Chennai has been badly hit by worst rains in a century. The death toll in the rain related incidents now stands at 269.

Amid the crisis situation, Indian security forces have emerged as warriors and life savers who are incessantly carrying out the relief and rescue operation.

On December 2, two columns of the Army’s Garrison Infantry Battalion were sent to Tambaram and Oorapakkam after the state government sought military assistance.










Indian Air Force’s (IAF) choppers were flown to Chennai to carry out rescue operation.

Several people stranded in waterlogged areas have been rescued during regular sorties conducted by the Air Force and Army helicopters.

IAF has also dropped food packets, ration and other items in flood-hit areas of Chennai.

Indian Navy deployed three flood relief teams and also launched a helpline number.

Relief teams also deployed additional boats for use.
