Indian Air Force Turns 84; PM Modi Celebrates The Occasion By Saluting Our ‘Air Warriors’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 8 sent out a tweet saluting the Indian Air Force on the occasion of their 84th Anniversary.

Honouring all Air Force personnel, he tweeted a photo along with Air-Force personnel along with the note that said, “your courage makes India proud”.


President Pranab Mukherjee too sent out a series of tweets not only congratulating the Indian Air Force but also thanking them for their valor and all that they have done in the last eight decades.


The Indian Air Force meanwhile had already started the celebrations at Ghaziabad’s Hindon air base, where they held a large parade and an air display show.

During the air display, the Force’s famous sky-divers, AKASH GANGA Team, dropped out of AN-32 aircraft in colourful canopies while bearing many flags.


There were also a series of  flypast including one in the vintage aircraft, a modern transport aircraft, and a frontline fighter aircraft.


During the ceremony, Air Force Chief Arup Raha remembered January’s Pathankot Air Base Attack and said that it was a stark reminder of the troubled times everyone is living in.


He then went on to confer Sena Medals & Vishist Seva Medals and spoke about the recent acquisition of 36 Rafale aircrafts that would be added to the Indian Air Force fleet in coming years.


The ceremony was also attended by all top military personal’s and cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar who was conferred with the honorary title of Group Captain back in 2010.
