According to news reports, India has started to supply advanced weaponry and gadgets to the Myanmar Army so as to help them set up military bases close to areas that are occupied by the rebel groups.
With this move, India hopes to get insurgent outfits to leave their bases in Myanmar and move out of the area.
The news was broken during Myanmar President U. Htin Kyaw’s recent visit to New Delhi where he said India and Myanmar had managed to develop a consensus on several bilateral issues.
Asian Age claims that India is going to provide helicopters and other advanced gear to Myanmar so as to strengthen their strike capabilities.
Myanmar is confident of making these military headquarters functional within next six months and is confident that this will reduce the number of insurgents operating in these areas. The newly-elected Myanmar President U Htin Kyaw in-turn has promised full military cooperation to India so as to help tackle militants operating from its own territory.
They have also agreed to enhance road connectivity between India and Southeast Asia.
