An IAS officer displayed a keen sense of duty when he decided to sleep in a graveyard to protect crucial evidence related to a major scam from being tampered with.
The senior IAS officer, identified as U Sagayam, is currently probing the multi-crore granite scam in Madurai.
On Saturday night, he was photographed taking a nap at the graveyard with a few police officials. He took the decision following the inability expressed by the district police to start the exhuming operation at the site.
Officials close to Sagayam told The Hindu
that he had expressed his concern about tampering of the evidence at the graveyard. While most members of his team chose to stay in their vehicles, Sagayam spent time chatting with journalists and local people at the graveyard itself. The official said that the IAS officer left only at daybreak. Pictures of him spending the night at the graveyard went viral on the social media circuit, with many praising him for his sincerity and dedication.
