Gurgaon resident Roushan Singh has claimed that his newly bought Honda City V (Manual Transmission Petrol) car caught fire on its own as it was parked outside his house.
Singh said the incident happened at 8:30 pm outside his Sector 21E house on February 21. Narrating the incident, Singh wrote on his Facebook page:
“As I drove to my friend Prem last Sunday night Feb 21st around 8:15PM in Sector 21E, Gurgaon driving approximately 15 kilometers, I parked the car in front of his gate and immediately left with him in his car for Delhi. However, as we would have hardly reached Munirka, Prem received a call from his parents informing that my car engine has caught fire on its own hardly 10 mins after we left.”
Singh added that while trying to extinguish the fire, he had to remove all nearby parked vehicles in a hurry.
He said he called the nearby Fire Brigade station in Udyog Vihar, and they arrived on the spot although the fire was was already extinguished by then.
He claimed that fire fighting officials didn’t find any external agent which could have initiated the fire and the cause of fire was internal inside the engine.
The car was driven for 650 kms, so when he asked for a replacement, Honda outrightly rejected it saying that there was nothing wrong in the engine and the cause of fire was external. When asked to share the complete detailed report, he said the company officials simply rejected the same.
