10 High-Paying Jobs Which You Can Get Without A Bachelor’s Degree

The cost of education has increased dramatically. Because of it, many parents are finding it hard to pay their children’s fees while many are unable to send their children for higher studies to get a degree required for them to get a job. The system of education across the country, with large volumes of textbooks, is such that it doesn’t give students the required knowledge or prepare the students to be ready for a job after the degree. The matter is indeed complex. Nevertheless, life is not all about degrees. There are so many fields or areas where it doesn’t require much education or a degree but highly paid, perhaps sometimes much more than many so-called descent and highly qualified jobs.

So here are some jobs which you can get without even a bachelor’s degree. But do note that most of these well-paying jobs are in the West. Take a look and may be you might apply for something which interests you.

1. Air traffic controllers

To be an air traffic controller, you don’t need any major degree. Just an associate degree is all it asked for and the median annual wage for this job is $122,410 (Rs 78.50 lakhs approx in the West). The responsibility of this job is to monitor and direct the movement of aircraft.

 

2. Nuclear power reactor operators

The required qualification for this job is a high school diploma or equivalent but the median annual wage is $91,170 (Rs 58.50 lakhs approx). However, he/she must be able and willing to handle the work like operating or controlling nuclear reactors. The responsibilities include move control rods, start and stop equipment, monitor and adjust controls, and record data in logs, and implement emergency procedures when needed.

 

3. Power distributors and dispatchers

The job of a power distributor and dispatcher includes responsibility to coordinate, regulate, or distribute electricity or steam. The required educational qualification for the job is only high school diploma or equivalent and the median annual wage is $81,900 (Rs.52.50 lakhs).

 

4. Radiation therapists

If you are good in observation, you are the best for this job. You just need an associate qualification to get this job. The responsibilities include like checking the equipments, observe patients reactions to treatment, and document the session. The median annual wage for this job is $80,160 (Rs.51.50 lakhs).

 

5. Elevator installers and repairers

A basic school degree or equivalent is all that is asked for this job. The median annual salary is $78,890 (Rs.50.50 lakhs). But note that the salary is not that hing for a similar role in India. The job of this person is to assemble, install, repair or maintain electric or hydraulic freight or passenger elevators, escalators, or dumbwaiters.

 

6. Detectives and criminal investigators

It may appear that the role of a detective will require people with high educational qualifications, but it is far from the truth. You just need to have a high school diploma or equivalent to qualify for the job, if you are acting as a private investigator. However, the median annual salary of this job is $78,120 (Rs.50 lakhs).


Yes, you need to have the talent to conduct investigations related to suspected violations of Central, State, or local laws to prevent or solve crimes. But note that often the street-smart chaps become the best detectives.

 

7. Commercial pilots

Yes, you don’t need a bachelor’s degree to become a commercial pilot. A basic educational qualification of 10+2 with mathematics, physics and chemistry is a must. Then a commercial pilot license (CPL) is all it takes to become a pilot. The median annual salary of a commercial pilot is $77,200 (Rs.49.50 lakhs).

 

8. Power plant operators

This job also requires only a 10+2 school degree or equivalent as educational qualification. Responsibilities are to control, operate, or maintain machinery to generate electric power. However, the median annual salary for this job is $74,690 (Rs.48 lakhs) in the West. In India the same designation brings in a decent Rs.7 lakh as media salary.

 

9. Funeral service managers

Do you even need a degree for a job where the main responsibility includes work to plan, direct, or coordinate the services or resources of funeral homes? The median annual salary for a funeral service manager is $73,830 (Rs.47.25 lakhs).

 

10. Gaming managers

The median annual salary of a gaming manager (the one in the casino) is $69,180 (Rs.44.25 lakhs). A school degree or equivalent is all it requires as an educational qualification. However, he/she should be able to plan, direct, or coordinate gaming operations in a casino.
