The Gujarat state government is planning to celebrate India’s 67th Republic Day in a unique way.
According to a local newspaper, the state government is planning to make the “most educated girl” in each village, hoist the national flag at a government school on January 26.
The report further states that to make this initiative successful, the Gujarat government has already sent out a circular to all the government schools informing them about it and asking them to follow the order.
The state government has also informed all the DPEOs (District Primary Education officer) of private schools in the state, to honour their wishes as well.
To promote the birth of a girl child, the Gujarat government has also decided to honour the parents of girls who are born in 2016. It will also give each government school Rs 300 for holding the Republic Day programme.
The theme for these Republic Day programmes has been set as “Beti ko Salam, Desh ke naam.”
Earlier this week, it was also reported that Delhi is also planning to hold a memorable Republic Day parade.
Reports stated that for the first time in India’s history a foreign army contingent (French) would be taking part in a Indian Republic Day Parade
when they would march down Rajpath along with Indian soldiers.
