Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan along with actor Farhan Akhtar, director Rahul Dholakia and four others are being taken to court by gangster Abdul Latif’s son Mustaq Ahmad for defaming his father. Mustaq has filed a law suit at an local Ahemdabad court claiming that the upcoming movie ‘Raees’ is set to defame his late father who is said to be part of Dawood Ibrahim gang and was killed in 1997 when he tried to escape from jail.
Taking up the matter, the city civil court judge R T Vatsani has issued an notice to Red Chillies Entertainment Private Limited, which is Khan’s production house along with co-producers of the movie Excel Entertainment and Rahul Dholakia Productions.
The court has also asked that their replies should be filed by May 11.
‘Raees’ is said to based on gangster Latif’s life, who was wanted in dozens of cases of murder, kidnapping and bootlegging back in 1980’s. He was arrested in 1995 and was killed by police two years later while he was trying to escape from Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail.
The teaser of the movie ‘Raees’ shows it to be about a gangster ‘Raees Khan,’ who was a bootlegger and operated in Gujarat in 1980s.
Mustaq has alleged that when the script for the movie was being researched, his family members were contacted and consulted by them. He also added that the producers had advertised that the movie was based on Latif’s life.
He has now sought injunction against the release of this film and said that the second part of the film shows Latif in a very defamatory manner.
