BJP leader Ganesh Joshi, who allegedly attacked and injured Shaktiman, has offered to cut his leg if he is found guilty.
He said, “Very sad. I already said that I am not at fault, if found guilty then cut my leg.” Shaktiman, the 13- years-old horse, was injured on March 14 during clashes between police and BJP protesters. The horse died yesterday
. It is alleged that BJP MLA Ganesh Joshi had hit the horse with a stick breaking his leg.
Shakitman’s death has now turned into a political blame game. Congress blamed Joshi for Shaktiman’s death.
“Like Modi ji murdered democracy, a BJP MLA made fatal attack on Shaktimaan. Unfortunate”, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said.
Union Minister Maneka Gandhi said that Shakitman was a ‘police officer’ who died on duty. She urged that those who killed the horse must be arrested.
Animal rights activists have also asked the government to strengthen penalties for cruelty against animals.
“We urge the government to act fast to ensure other animals are spared from cruelty and horrific deaths by strengthening the penalties for cruelty against animals,” PETA India chief executive Poorva Joshipura told IANS. However, Uttarakhand state BJP president and leader of opposition Ajay Bhatt said the state government is to be blamed as it didn’t provide adequate medical treatment.
