Former Director General Corporate Affairs BK Bansal, who committed suicide earlier this week had mentioned BJP Chief Amit Shah in his suicide note and accused CBI of mentally and physically torturing him and his family.
The copy of the suicide note was recently made public by a news report and reveals that Bansal’s wife and daughter, who too had committed suicide earlier year, had been pushed to take the drastic step due to CBI torture.
BK Bansal was facing a CBI probe in relation to a corruption case and reportedly had been caught “red-handed” while taking a bribe.
He had committed suicide along with his son Yogesh Bansal, at their residence in East Delhi on September 27. His wife Satyabala and daughter Neha too had hanged themselves in the same apartment on 19 July this year, while Bansal was in police custody.
Looking at the suicide notes written by Bansal and his son, one can see many similarities as both accuse “CBI raid” of causing them “great humiliation” and not wanting to live after that.
Both the suicides notes together are nine pages long and has now come under intense scrutiny as the family’s dying declaration, among others, mentions the BJP chief, Amit Shah.
On page four of BK Bansal’s suicide note, he asks for a lie detector test to be conducted on DIG Sanjeev Gautam, and mentions that he had once claimed to be ‘Amit Shah’s man’.
” ..DIG Sanjeev Gautam, two lady officers and fat hawaldar must be made to go through the lie detector test. The truth will come out. The DIG once said, ‘I’m Amit Shah’s man. Who can touch me? What I will do to your wife and daughter that hearing their treatment will send shivers down people’s spine…”
Both the suicide notes have dated 26 September 2016, a day before B K Bansal and his son Yogesh’s body were found and both accuse a CBI DIG, two women officers and a “fat” havildar of “torture”.
Looking at the seriousness of the allegations against its officials, CBI on September 28 constituted an internal inquiry into the matter after they received a communication from the Delhi Police with copies of the suicide notes attached to it.
In his note, Bansal has also mentioned that his wife and daughter had shared the details of “torture” with their friends and neighbors before they took the extreme step.
He also alleged that the women officers slapped his wife and the DIG abused her over the phone threatening to torture Bansal who was in CBI custody at that time. He then went on to ask…
“Even if I was at fault in the case, why were my wife and daughter pushed to suicide by CBI officials.”
Meanwhile, Yogesh, in his suicide note, gave more insight and even identified one more officer in addition to four already named by his father.
Yogesh has alleged that he was “unofficially” subjected to “mental and physical” torture to an extent that he was being forced to take such a step. He also alleged five CBI officers including the DIG of “unofficially and off the record” torturing him, his mother and his sister.
“My mother and my sister were against suicide but they were tortured to such an extent that they took the step…they were murdered by CBI officers who were supported by a neighbour who made fun of their situation.”
BK Bansal was an additional secretary-rank officer in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, was arrested by CBI on July 16. He was allegedly caught accepting a bribe from a pharmaceutical company.
