Finally, Tripura Gets Rail Connectivity; First Train Between Agartala And Delhi Flagged Off

Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu flagged off the first train between Delhi and Agartala, putting an end to the 67-year-old demand.

The train named “Tripura Sundari Express” has brought relief to millions in Tripura, western Manipur and Mizoram besides southern Assam.

The train will run on the single-track 227 km metre-gauge link — Badarpur (south Assam) to Agartala — which was converted into broad-gauge track earlier this year spending Rs 2,016 crore.
