There is a possibility that US President-elect Donald Trump will give his nod to a Congress bill which demands that Pakistan be declared a terror state.

According to Economic Times, Shalabh Kumar, a prominent Indian-origin businessman who is part of Trump’s advisory council said, “A key step that the new president is expected to take is to give assent to the US Congress bill that has been introduced in the house to declare Pakistan a terror state when the legislation reaches him.”

Shalabh added that President Trump and PM Narendra Modi will share a good chemistry and that the Indo-US partnership will touch new heights.

The bill was introduced in the Congress by Congressman Ted Poe and Congressman Dana Rohrabacher. Titled ‘Pakistan State Sponsor of Terrorism Designation Act’, the bill seeks that the US designates Pakistan with the terrorist state tag because of the country sponsoring terrorists who launch attacks on India.

Of course, Trump’s arrival means that there will be a boost to US-India defence partnership – a key area of investment for the US and a huge advantage for Indian military.

In fact, the day Donald Trump won the election, Pakistani media almost went into a hysteria. They predicted everything from how Trump’s arrival trumps US-Pakistan chances to an outlandish claim that he is of Pakistani origin.
