In today’s world, not many people risk their life to save a stranger’s. But Lallan Kumar is not one of them.
The 28-year-old, who hails from Allahabad, is a fisherman by profession. But instead of catching fishes, he saves humans; he claims to have saved 80 lives till now.
During Prayag’s Kumbh Mela, he saved the lives of the people who came to take a holy dip but accidentally started drowning. Kumar has also been appointed as a diver at Kumbh by the Jal Police.
Lallan says that he once saved lives of 25 students with the help of his friend.
He claims he can stay 1 minute 10 seconds under the water and can go as deep as 25 feet.
Lallan, who hails from a poor family, started working at the age of 10 as a labourer. Due to the tedious work, he decided to be a diver when he was just 14 years old.
Now, Lallan is often called by police to take out dead bodies from the water. Speaking to TopYaps News, he recalled that when he first fished a human body out of the water neither he could sleep nor eat the whole day. Here is Lallan’s full story:
