Snapdeal Employee Dipti Sarna Found Safe In Panipat; Kudos To Cops

Around 36 hours after she went missing, Snapdeal employee Dipti Sarna has been found safe in Panipat.

Working as a Company Secretary with the e-retail giant, the petite 24-year-old Sarna went missing at around 8 in the evening after taking an autorickshaw for home from the metro station in Vaishali area in Ghaziabad.

Snapdeal launched a campaign #HelpFindDipti urging everyone via social media to help the authorities find Sarna.

Even Kunal Bahl, the co-founder and CEO of Snapdeal, had expressed his shock at the news of Dipti’s disappearance:

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s office had asked the Ghaziabad Senior Superintendent of Police to personally head the search operation. The Delhi Police, too, had activated all of its patrol teams.

“Dipti’s friend said that something had happened to her. They were talking on the phone when he heard her scream and the call got disconnected. He asked me to look for her,” her father Narendra Sarna had told reporters yesterday.

On Wednesday night, she took a ‘shared’ auto-rickshaw from the Metro station along with three other passengers, including a woman.

She had called up her father to inform him of her location. Reports say that the woman co-passenger was forced to get down after the auto travelled a few kilometers.

It was after this that her phone was turned off triggering a panic among her family members.

Though some auto drivers were summoned for questioning, no arrest has been made so far. The relief is that Dipti is back home with her family.
